Paying rent through RentSpree turns on-time payments into more than just a bill: they’re reported to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion to help build credit, and they automatically earn rewards worth $80+, on top of a $30 welcome discount. It’s free, optional, and only reports on-time payments, so renters can set it up through their landlord’s RentSpree invite (or invite their landlord to join) and start earning right away.
Add up a year of rent and you'll likely find it's the biggest bill you pay. You pay it on time, month after month. What does it give back?
When you pay rent through RentSpree, every on-time payment helps build your credit history and earns rewards. That's $250+ in benefits, at no cost to you.
Your rent can build your credit
On its own, paying rent on time usually doesn't show up on your credit report. Rent reporting changes that.
Pay rent through RentSpree and your on-time payments are reported to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion, so the rent you already pay becomes part of your credit history. Over time, that can make it easier to qualify for future rental homes, credit cards, and loans.
It works in the background. Once it's on, all you do is pay rent on time.
Earn rewards every time you pay on time
Every on-time payment through RentSpree earns points automatically: $80+ in rewards, redeemable for gift cards, home essentials, and giveaway entries (win prizes like a month of free rent). Gift cards include brands like Amazon, Starbucks, and DoorDash. See the giveaway rules for details.
When you turn on rewards, you also get a $30 discount on brands you love as a welcome gift.
How it works
- Set up your monthly rent payment through RentSpree.
- Turn on rewards. Accept Piñata's Renter Benefits Terms, and add your date of birth if we don't already have it. The credit bureaus need it to match payments to your credit file, and it's not a credit check.
- Pay on time. Your on-time payments are reported and earn points automatically. Turn on autopay and the points and credit history take care of themselves.
Good to know
- It's free. RentSpree covers the cost, so these benefits come with no fee or subscription.
- Late payments are never reported. Late, partial, and missed payments aren't sent to the credit bureaus.
- Rent reporting is optional. You choose whether to turn it on when you set up rent.
- Your credit reflects more than rent. Credit card use, loan payments, and credit inquiries also affect your score.
- Your payment details stay protected. Every payment is processed by Stripe, so your bank and card details stay encrypted.
Start earning on rent
Rewards start when you pay rent through RentSpree.
If your landlord already collects rent through RentSpree, set up your payment from their invite. You'll see the option to turn on rewards as soon as your rent is set up.
If your landlord doesn't use RentSpree yet, invite them. Go to Payments in your RentSpree account, enter your landlord's email, and select "Send invite." We'll email them about setting up rent payments and let you know the moment they're set up.
RentSpree's credit building and rewards program is powered by Piñata. On-time rent payments are reported to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion by Piñata on RentSpree's behalf. By enrolling, you agree to Piñata's Renter Benefits Terms.
