For renters moving to a new house in Los Angeles, finding a good place to eat is one of the first priorities. However, Yelp is becoming more and more biased and can’t compete with a solid personal recommendation from a friend. That’s why we, as local Angelinos, are giving our best selections for the top lunch spots around the city. These are places we actually eat every week! We recommend that you check how close your prospective Los Angeles apartment is to these fantastic eateries.
1.Dan’s Super Subs.
Dan's has been a Los Angeles staple for nearly 30 years now. Their focus is on quality. Real meats and fresh breads are a great start. But the real kicker is the way they pile each sub high with fresh and flavorful ingredients.
Even though their menu is huge, I have yet to find a sub-standard combination. Make sure to check their hours on their website before you make the trip to grab a sub. The Woodland Hills shop is almost always bustling, but the subs are worth any amount of wait.

2.Mulberry Street Pizzeria.
As someone who grew up in New York, I never imagined there was a way to actually get authentic New York style pizza in Los Angeles. Then I tried Mulberry Street Pizzeria. After sampling countless pizza places near my own Los Angeles apartment, I finally came across this one and it’s the only pizza that truly reminds me of the pizza I grew up eating. Fortunately they even have multiple locations across the city: Two in Beverly Hills, one in Sherman Oaks, and one in Encino. So no matter where you are, you can usually find a nearby location to stop and grab a slice.
I can only speculate as to how they’re able to make such amazing pizza. Some say they import water directly from New York to be used in the dough. Others say their pizza recipe has been kept secret and passed down for generations. Either way, the results speak for themselves.

This little café is a go to spot for hot and tasty Spanish inspired sandwiches. Although simple, the Spanish Grilled Cheese is to die for. Also try the Moorish Chicken sandwich. It’s bursting with flavor that starts with the romesco sauce, continues with tender chicken breast, and ends with fresh avocado.
Each sandwich is made with fresh baguette-style bread and comes with choice of fresh salad or “patatas” (a fancy word for potatoes). This is our favorite spot to meet partners and clients for lunch. You should make it one of your favorite spots as well.

4.Mercados Buenos Aires.
Looking for authentic and delicious Argentinian-style food? Look no further than Mercados Buenos Aires! Prices are surprisingly reasonable for what you get. My favorite item is the Parrillada Buenos Aires. This dish serves two so grab a friend and give it a try. You’ll both be treated to a feast of short ribs, skirt steak, and sausage that you won’t forget. For a lighter option, try one of the chicken dishes. These have been cooked to perfection every time.
There are two locations, one in Van Nuys and the other in Granada Hills. But if you’re looking for something more upscale with the same flavorful punch, don’t forget to check out the Buenos Aires Grill in Northridge.

5.Food Haus Café.
Do you frequently find yourself in Downtown LA? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a good spot there as well. Even if you don’t frequently come to the area, the food here is worth the trip. Located in Historic South Central, Food Haus Café features unique décor and individually crafted plates to satisfy any palate.
The Blacklisted Sandwich is a true Los Angeles staple. Paired with truffle fries, you have a winning combination. Don’t forget to give one of the grass-fed beef burgers a try. Always be sure to find out the Chef-created burger of the day. The combinations are absolutely delicious!
Location: 2106 S. Olive St., Los Angeles, California
To sum everything up, be sure to check out the proximity of your new Los Angeles apartment to these eateries. You will be glad if your apartment can be close by to any or all of these restaurants. Try them and let us know what you think!
