Living in a Los Angeles apartment always provides people with plenty of things to do. But the biggest choice is deciding which area of Los Angeles you want to hang out in. If you’re living in Santa Monica, you’ve made a good choice: there are plenty of things to do in the neighborhood. If you plan on being in the area for a while -a necessity for a staycation- there are plenty of houses for rent in Santa Monica.
Santa Monica, in comparison to greater Los Angeles, is a much smaller city. This makes it a convenient place to get around to see some of the interesting sites. In fact, most places can been accessed by walking or bike riding. That includes the beach of course. The majority of people that come to Santa Monica are attracted by the world-class beach with plenty of sunbathing, swimming, and beach volleyball to go around. There are also a plethora of other things to do, including art exhibits, great dining options, and several other attractions that are a great mix between seaside charm and coastal city fun. The small size of the town also allows you to walk to pretty much anywhere from houses to rent in Santa Monica.
The beach itself offers plenty of activities for the whole family, including a twenty-two mile long bicycle trail that goes all the way to Torrance beach. Visitors can rent bikes from numerous organizations for this activity, and the beach itself is a developed 3.5 mile strip with plenty of restrooms, walkways, and restaurants available. There are also rentals and lessons available if you’d like to go surfing or paddle boarding.
And of course, there is always the Santa Monica Pier. This iconic location is a signature of the city itself, and provides tons of attractions for both residents and visitors. Aside from its amazing solar powered Ferris wheel, the Santa Monica Pier has its own amusement park, tons of restaurants and souvenir shops, not to mention the historic Looff Hippodrome Carousel and plenty of street performers to catch your eye. There’s also an aquarium at the pier, and even an arcade for all of the entertainment you could possibly need.
Another notable activity by the pier is the free summer concert series. You can stop by for some free live music every Thursday night from July-August. Bring a blanket and some friends to sit on the beach and enjoy beautiful summer nights near houses for rent in Santa Monica.
If you’d rather spend your staycation in Santa Monica shopping, the city has plenty of options for that as well. The Third Street Promenade, an open air shopping area known for its farmer’s market, is very close to the beach, and well-loved for the exciting atmosphere it exudes. Santa Monica Place is another option available to you, with a number of luxury stores and a great third floor view of the ocean.
Santa Monica may be a small city, but it is certainly not short on things to do. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a good time at the beach, or you’d rather go shopping, Santa Monica has something for you. If you plan on staying for a while, simply track down one of the Santa Monica houses for rent, and you’ll be all set for a great staycation near your amazing Los Angeles apartment.
