Los Angeles, Calif. — At the time of publishing, there are seven severe wildfires impacting the Southern California region. At least three have resulted in mandatory evacuations of an entire area. The severity and intensity of the blazes are forcing many people to make hard decisions as lives and real property is threatened with imminent danger. That this is occurring weeks before the holiday season is both harrowing and unprecedented.
In a recent article published by L.A. Times, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck discusses the ongoing Creek Fire: “We’re going to be hard pressed to meet all the resources required throughout the city and the county of Los Angeles due to this weather event, and if you stay in your homes, you cause our resources to be diverted to take care of you.”*
The severity and extreme nature of the inferno recalls similar stories and images from the Sonoma County Fires less than a season ago.
