Los Angeles Pierce College Overview
Los Angeles Pierce College is a community college, located in the San Fernando Valley, which is within the City of Los Angeles, California. The beautiful campus of Pierce College covers 426 acres. Enrollment of each semester is about 22,000 students. Although the college was originally founded 65+ years ago as an agricultural college, it now offers classes across more than 60 disciplines and 111 degree programs.
Perhaps most impressive about Los Angeles Pierce College are its graduation and transfer rates, which consistently rank the highest out of the other schools in the Los Angeles system. Pierce College’s honor students in particular have shown an extremely successful track record of moving on to 4 years University of California schools and California State Universities. For example, in 2015, 90% of Pierce College’s honor students who applied to UCLA were accepted.
There are always plenty of activities for students to partake in ranging from outdoor activities, cheap eats, shopping, and much more.
Even though Los Angeles is a city with very limited public transportation resources, there are a few options around campus. A Metro bus line is always around the corner at Pierce College, making it easy to get from campus to Warner Center, North Hollywood and more. Apartments near Pierce College is usually preferred in cities such as Warner Center, Woodland Hills and Reseda. You can commute by buses for sure, however, if you like more flexibility or if you would like to travel around L.A, students are highly recommended to get a car, carpool with friends is also an option.
